Han pasado casi diez años desde la construcción de un puente y túnel para la vida silvestre sobre y debajo de la calle Oracle al sur de Catalina. Desde entonces, se han visto miles de animales por año usando estas rutas, incluyendo una tortuga del desierto por la primera vez en noviembre de 2023. Los proyectos de construcción son parte de un programa colaborativo entre la Coalición de Protección del Desierto Sonora, el Departamento de Transportes en Arizona y otras entidades con planes de construir más cruces. Cada mes, los voluntarios toman parte en el Día de Restauración de Hábitat para cuidar las plantas, retirar la basura y realizar otras tareas de mantenimiento necesarias.
